Panel “Black Women’s Activism in Brazil and Black Lives Matter,” Global Women’s Rights Forum at University of San Francisco, March 6, 2019

Moderated by Professor Cecilia Santos (USF), this panel will bring together three international and local activists and scholars – Anielle Franco (Human Rights Activist, Maré Community, Rio de Janeiro), Lúcia Xavier (coordinator of CRIOLA, Rio de Janeiro), and Professor Tianna Paschel (UC Berkeley) – to discuss State violence and Black women’s organizing for justice in Brazil and their connections to US-based movements like Black Lives Matter.
